Add adequate number of calories to your meal, in order to lose weight after pregnancy. If you are breast feeding your child you will need even more calories.

If you don’t take in enough calories, your metabolism will slow down, even to 20-30% less efficient than the normal rate. Drop out all the junk food you were taking before because it will not nourish your child properly and your energy will drained out too.

Don’t starve your body and take meals in smaller intervals. Remaining hungry for more than 2-3 hrs will be harmful; try to get something nutritious during the routine. Calcium will gear up your metabolism. Food choices should include fruits, lean proteins and whole gain products.

Exercise with the Baby

Now you can perform them in the company of your baby. Search in your community for other young moms that can do walks with you with their babies in the strollers and even swimming with their children. A local recreational center might offer a baby and me exercises.

Stroll out your baby in the push chair and visit a zoo, a park, mall or just your neighbors. When your little one starts walking, take them out to play grounds and play with them.

Look for Support

Support networks are vital for new moms. It is hard to lose post pregnancy weight alone. It’s important you need to be getting  moral support from support centers. See if they are providing baby sitting services, family and peer support plays a vital role in women’s life.

Look for those new moms who are facing the same phase in their lives and are passing through the same obstacles. Read about their achievements and how they overcome through that stage. The communication should be two way, share your thoughts and your own success factors too. You will be relieved to know that you are not alone.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Insufficient sleep is the cause of every type of health problem. Studies have shown that most health problems are caused by lack of sleep. And almost every new mom experiences it as their new baby takes time to adjust with the mother’s sleeping pattern especially at night.

Pregnancy is not only hard on the body but stressful for the mental health too because it leaves you exhausted. Ask your spouse to share the responsibility of handling the crying baby during late hours at least 3 times in a week, so that you can get 8-10 hrs of sleep.  A sound sleep will refresh your body as well as mind.

But those moms who are breast feeding their child they need to be patient for a little longer. The advice for them is to catch up on nap time when it is possible and the day will come when your baby and you will be sleeping together for hours.
